SUS444 Stainless Steel Material for Heat Exchanger
The yield strength of SUS444 is equivalent to 1.5 times that of carbon steel and 6 times that of glass fiber reinforced plastics. It has outstanding properties such as shock resistance, snow resistance, wind pressure resistance, and impact resistance. 444 ferritic stainless steel has a high thermal conductivity, which is about 130% to 150% of that of chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, which is very suitable for heat exchange purposes. The coefficient of thermal expansion is small, only 60% to 70% of the chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel, which is very suitable for thermal expansion, cold shrinkage, and thermal cycling.
The steel has good plasticity and toughness, and is suitable for stretching, rolling and forming, and stamping manufacturing. Especially the application corrosion resistance is the most excellent. The corrosion resistance in the high chloride medium is better than ordinary ferritic stainless steel and austenitic stainless steel and generally does not produce chloride stress corrosion cracking. After adding Ni, Ti, Mo, and other elements, the resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion is improved. This steel can be welded by welding ordinary stainless steel.
This steel grade is particularly suitable for food processing equipment, heat exchangers, hot water (heater) tanks, water storage tanks, solar energy collection panels, etc. High-purity ferritic stainless steel such as 444 or YUS190 has strong resistance to pitting corrosion and stress corrosion due to the Mo element and also has high-efficiency thermal conductivity and magnetic permeability.
Main applications: large/small capacity water storage tanks, hot water tanks, solar water heaters, electric water heaters, heat exchangers, and other water supply and hot water equipment for schools, hospitals, food-related companies, public buildings, apartments, general residences, etc.
