The U.S. launches fourth double-reverse sunset review investigation on stainless sheet and strip
On September 1, 2022, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued an announcement to initiate the fourth anti-dumping sunset review investigation on stainless steel sheets and strips imported from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, China. At the same time, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) initiated the fourth anti-dumping and anti-subsidy sunset review industrial damage investigation on the products involved in the above countries/regions.
Anti-dumping and countervailing measures, and whether substantial damage to the U.S. domestic industry caused by the import of the product in question will continue or recur within a reasonably foreseeable period. Stakeholders should register with the US Department of Commerce within 10 days from the date of this announcement. Stakeholders should submit responses to the USITC by October 3, 2022, and comments on the adequacy of the responses in this case by November 10, 2022.
On July 27, 1999, the US Department of Commerce formally imposed anti-dumping duties on stainless steel sheets and strips from Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. On August 6, 1999, the U.S. Department of Commerce formally imposed countervailing duties on Korean stainless steel sheets and strips. Since then, the United States has conducted three sunset reviews, and extended the taxation period three times on July 25, 2005, August 11, 2011, and October 3, 2017.
