There are so many varieties of 200 series stainless steel. Have you heard of 203 Stainless Steel? So, what kind of stainless steel product is this?
You can buy it with high copper + 400. It is cheaper than 202, but the scope of use is overlapping. It is very cost-effective.
1. Introduction to 203 Stainless Steel
203 stainless steel belongs to the 200 series of stainless steel and is a chromium-manganese austenitic stainless steel.
Austenitic stainless steel is divided into two series according to its chemical composition: chromium-nickel series (300 series in the United States) austenitic stainless steel and chromium-manganese series (200 series in the United States) austenitic stainless steel.
Stainless steel is divided into five categories according to its metal structure: austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, austenitic-ferritic (duplex) stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, and precipitation-hardening stainless steel.
The stainless steel that is widely circulated on the market and used to make building components, decorative parts, vehicle structures, guardrails, household appliance components and shells, newsstands, telephone booths, catering utensils, medical equipment, etc. is mainly austenitic stainless steel.
Coupled with a large number of industrial uses, the output (or consumption) of austenitic stainless steel accounts for about 75% to 80% of the total output (or consumption) of stainless steel.
Our company has been engaged in the stainless steel industry for more than 10 years. If you need 203 stainless steel, no matter what specifications, whether it is bars, pipes, coils plates, etc., we can provide it. We look forward to your inquiry about stainless steel!
2. Is 203 Stainless Steel Food Grade?
No.
203 stainless steel contains more carbon, so the material is harder and easy to crack. It is mostly used for shallow stretch products such as decoration. It is not food grade. Food-grade stainless steel refers to the part of food machinery that contacts food and must meet food safety requirements.
3. Is 203 Stainless Steel Good?
203 stainless steel belongs to the 200 series of stainless steel, which belongs to the chromium-manganese austenitic stainless steel.
The biggest advantage of the 200 series of stainless steel is that it is very bright after polishing and is mostly used as a decorative material.
Resistant to corrosion in dry ordinary natural environments. Due to the low requirements for the use of 200 series stainless steel, there are not many qualified products produced by the standards in China. Many rusted stainless steels are inferior products in this series.
The Main Differences Between 203 Stainless Steel and 304 are as follows:
1. Different Material Composition
203 stainless steel has a nickel content of about 4% and a manganese content of about 8%, while 304 stainless steel has a nickel content of about 8% and contains more than 18% chromium.
2. Different Corrosion Resistance
The chromium content in 304 stainless steel is greater than that in 203 stainless steel, and its corrosion resistance is better than that of 203 stainless steel.
3. Different Application Ranges
304 stainless steel is mainly used in food processing, storage and transportation, medical equipment, household goods, auto parts, bellows, etc., while 202 is used in building decoration, public facilities, municipal engineering, highway guardrails, shopping malls, glass handrails, etc.
