Quality objection handling for scratches on the sheet
Stainless steel is often used in decoration, home appliances, appliances, and other industries in daily life, so the surface of stainless steel is only highly critical, especially cold-rolled stainless steel. Enterprises generally perform surface processing according to actual needs before using it. Therefore, once there is a serious scratch defect on the stainless steel surface, it is likely to directly lead to a scrap of the material.
A customer who makes home appliance shells purchased 0.4mm stainless steel sheets. After reorganization, they raised quality objections to the supplier, saying that the scrap rate due to scratches on the panel surface was too high.
The supplier is very effective and immediately arranges technicians for after-sale testing. After testing, the surface scratches of this batch of goods are basically minor scratches. The length is less than 5mm, has no hand-feeling, or irregular distribution, and is not necessarily continuous. The randomness is relatively strong. It can be judged that the part is randomly generated during processing. Part of it is original because it is very slight, it is generally not found during processing.
The customer uses a fixed-length sheet, which needs to be slit and flattened. The customer requires that no paper is placed and that there is no scratch on the bottom surface. Stainless steel has been processed in multiple passes, it is difficult to avoid minor scratches, and the lower surface is not easy to inspect, so it is difficult to guarantee the yield required by customers.
In fact, it is difficult to avoid such scratches similar to those proposed by customers. If the stainless steel surface rubs against a slightly harder object, similar scratches will occur. If you scratch with your fingernails, there is no hand feel. Generally, the surface is frosted. Can be eliminated. Since the customer only mentions no scratches when reaching the purchase agreement, the machining center’s interpretation of scratches means that scratches are only those that have a touch, and scratches are those that do not feel. Scratches are difficult to avoid. Whether it is scratched is controversial.
Finally, the two parties re-established the standard and quantity of scratches and made detailed regulations on the depth, location, and scrap rate caused by scratches.
Because there is no standard for surface scratches, it is impossible to determine who is responsible for the scratches, which can easily lead to deviations in the judgment standards of buyers and suppliers. If the surface requirements are high, it is best to communicate and agree to avoid subsequent objections.
