Quality objection: surface cracks on stainless steel knives
Case Overview
Received a customer complaint: the 2Cr13 stainless steel purchased by it had cracks on the surface of some products after the knives were made.
This kind of crack is not observed on the raw material, but after shearing and forming, and surface polishing, arc-shaped cracks will appear on the surface of the knife.
From the blanking point of view, it can be seen that these cracks are longitudinally distributed, that is, the rolling direction of the stainless steel.
Case Study
It is preliminarily judged as a raw material quality problem.
After receiving the feedbacks, the steel mill arranges personnel to take samples for analysis.
Two days later, the steel mill analysis report came, showing that the corrosiveness around these cracks was poor, a striped structure appeared, with obvious inclusions and aggregation, and the chemical composition analysis report also showed obvious composition segregation.
For the above reasons, once the force is applied here, the material will be damaged and cracks will occur.
Treatment Measures
The customer counted the number of table knives with defective quality in this batch of materials, discarded them, and the steel plant paid compensation.
As a stainless steel trader, you often encounter problems with raw materials.
Although the responsibility does not lie with the trader, the trader has the obligation to handle the profit and loss of the customer and the steel mill.
Actively handling all kinds of quality objections is also a basic means to protect customers.
