The Essentials of Using Stainless Steel Elbow
The main alloying element in stainless steel is Cr (chromium), and only when the Cr content reaches a certain value, the steel has corrosion resistance. The corrosion resistance of stainless steel decreases with the increase of carbon content. Therefore, the carbon content of most stainless steel is low, and the maximum does not exceed 1.2%. The WC (carbon content) of some steels is even lower than 0.03% (such as 00Cr12 ). Stainless steel generally contains at least 10.5% of Cr (chromium). Stainless steel also contains elements such as Ni, Ti, Mn, N, Nb, Mo, and si.
Stainless steel elbows are used in an accurate and fairway.
1. When using stainless steel elbow ball valves, globe valves, and gate valves, they are only fully open or fully closed. They are not allowed to be used for flow adjustment, so as to avoid erosion of the sealing surface and accelerated wear. There is an inverted sealing device in the gate valve and the upper threaded stop valve, and the handwheel is turned to the uppermost position and tightened to prevent the medium from leaking from the packing.
2. The stainless steel elbows stored for a long time should be checked regularly. The exposed processing surface must be kept clean, cleaned of dirt, and stored neatly in a ventilated and dry place indoors. It is strictly forbidden to stack or store in the open air. Always keep the stainless steel elbow dry and ventilated, keep the device clean and tidy, and store it in accordance with the accurate storage method.
3. When installing, the stainless steel elbow can be directly installed on the pipeline according to the connection method, and the installation is carried out according to the used position. Under normal circumstances, it can be installed at any position in the pipeline, but it needs easy-to-operate inspection. Note that the medium flow direction of the cut-off stainless steel elbow should be upward from the vertical valve disc. The stainless steel elbow can only be installed horizontally. When installing stainless steel elbows, pay attention to the tightness to prevent leakage and affect the normal operation of the pipeline.
The commonly used grades of precipitation hardening stainless steel are 04Cr13Ni8Mo2Al and so on. Stainless steel can be hardened (strengthened) by precipitation hardening (also known as age hardening).
